UPDATE: The Garmin Forerunner 405CX has hundreds of positive reviews on Amazon. The short story here is that the Forerunner 405 is a great GPS watch with a very reliable heart rate monitor. However, it’s been replaced by the Forerunner 410.
But don’t think you have to have the latest Forerunner. The 405 is still a very capable heart rate monitor and is available at a significant savings to the Forerunner 410. The biggest drawback of the 405 i s the bezel. Many users, but not all, has issues with the settings of the watch changing during a run. The most common resolution is to lock the bezel before running. For some users this is a significant issues. For others it was not an issue. Since you can save over $100 with the 405, it might be worth considering.
